Our Nige; B****y Technology, steaming ears and high blood pressure.

Sodding narrowboats are supposed to be relaxing well not when you’re trying to link your stupid blog posts with the even more stupid b****y facebook account and you’ve gone through it 177 times checking you’ve done what you’re supposed to and then finding out you missed a bit. Agggghhhhhhh SSSSSSSuuuuuuggg gaarrr. Then it still won’t link up and every time you manage your posts you click on the damn “needs authorization” link and press the bogsnorkelling “Authorise” button and it just goes back to telling you to stokfestering “needs authirisation” again and shows you the “press this” widget thingy again which is another piece of dampseaweed infested techno bable along with all the other ISDKS and APIS and none words that they make up instead of using words idiots like me can understand and it makes me hair fall out and me teeth itch and me nose run and if it carries on I may have to end it all by throwing myself willy nilly under a fast moving kayak and cause untold trauma to the unsuspecting paddler.

Ooh I feel so much better now. Anyway the gist of what I’m trying to get at is do any of you nice people out there know how I’m supposed to authorise my posts so the link appears on my FB home page. Others are doing it so obviously I’m not quite pressing the right buttons or I am pressing the right buttons but not necessarily in the right order, as someone once said.

Many thanks

Techno Bable Barry the enlightened one. hehehe

Useful Information
Our Nige

55 years old. I work in registered care as a care assistant and have my house up for sale and when sold will be buying a narrowboat of some kind to live on. Been a bit of a dream of mine for many years. Don't know for certain if I'll like it but I'm really looking forward to it and think that I will. I have been looking at boats and reading and talking to people over the last 6 to 9 monts and sometimes I feel like I might know what layout I want. I will be on a restricted budget of about 25 to 35k and will be looking for advice and tips to help me make a fair start on the water.

lol That explains all those clouds rolling around the sky to the north of me. :)

Before you ask I have not got the foggiest how to link the two.

One advantage of being a pensioner is that I don’t need to do Facebook or Twitter, although I do have a Facebook account so I can see what the family are doing.

After 6 years of CCing I’m pretty well chilled out now and just sit back and let’em all get on with it. Mind you, in a couple of weeks we’ll be mixing it with the hire boats as we go up the Stratford so things might change.

Thanks for the replies and I could happily ignore facebook too but with getting a website of my own up with the intention of selling my talents, I won’t be getting too rich I think, I do need to get to grips with linking things in and once I get the hang of it it will be easy. It’s just when things are new.

Lets hope the jolly makers will bring the sun with them so we can all warm up. Have fun.

have you tried linking the other way round i.e. FB to your blog? Have you been through your settings, there may be some allowance that you need to tick before it will allow you to authorise.

I have linked FB and Twitter but not blog unfortunately, sorry.

Hope you get it sorted, nothing more frustrating than technical issues (apart from not being able to find something when you need it)

Do you feel better now? Is it safe to come out?

monzie - Tuesday,21 May, 2013

Hi Nige,

Google:  link blog post to facebook automatically

It returns quite a few link, so it seems a  lot of people have the same problem. Maybe one of them will give you the answer.

Good luck.

PS: Thanks for the post. I had such a good laugh; mainly because I know how frustrating technology can be.

I seriously think that sometimes we’re going backwards in the name of progress!

Thanks Paul and Monzie and yes it’s safe to come out again. I found I’d not put my facebook ID in my profile as well so have added that but still not linked up so will have another look and do some more searching. I will get there in the end. What a glorious bank hols we’ve had again. Hope everyone has enjoyed it and Paul hasn’t got too suntanned at Crick. We went last year and it poured down all day so should be better this year. All this sunshine and haven’t taken the boat out in it but it has been lovely lounging today.

God Bless you.

I was only at Crick this afternoon. I had to top up my tan at the marina for the rest of the bank holiday weekend. Sally and I were only shopping at Crick for a couple of hours but we’ve managed to spend a fortune. There was so many goodies to choose from. I have to go now. I have some new lights to fit!
