Welcome to the forum. It’s brand new (installed 3rd June 2012) so if there isn’t much in the way of content yet, you can understand why. With your help though we can change that very quickly. The site now has just under 5,000 members. The forum software has duplicated the site usernames and passwords for the forum so, if you have already registered on the site, your log in details will remain the same. But you already know that, because if you can read this, you must be logged in.

You might want to update this. Looks like the site is developing well and I anticipate it being a useful resource for me as I plan a move from bricks and mortar to steel afloat.

Hi Kyber and welcome to the forum. Yes, the introduction could do with an update. As no doubt you’ve already discovered, there’s now plenty of content in the current 600 topics and 3,700 posts. If you can’t find the information you want though, all you have to do is ask.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to  getting to know everyone and though I don’t like starting off by asking a favour, I will anyway. CONKERS, is the answer to the question from a lady called Debbie who asked about swan and spider repellant. Let me say that conkers are great for deterring spiders. Grab a handfull of windfall conkers, peel away the pithy jacket and distribute the shiny nuts throughout the boat and hey presto spiders disappear. Big uns, little uns spiders don’t like conkers! I tried to get back to debbie’s posting but failied miserably but if you hear of this damsel in distress.- there’s her answer. (I do not recommend conkers as a swan reppellant however, never having tried them and I rather like swans puhsing their beaks in through the window) NO I DON’T FEED THEM

Thanks for that Phoenix64. Unfortunately I can’t try conkers here at Calcutt. I’ve thrown all the ones I can find at the Canada geese. We don’t have a problem with spiders anyway on James. They can’t stand the twice daily polishing from Sally!
