Hiya,

Just wondered if there was an approximate maximum weight on board for a 60ft narrowboat?

What do you mean by a maximum weight? Maximum weight of what? Are you talking about furniture etc or something else?

In the RCD conformity operators manual if you have one, there should be a breakdown of weights, the addition of which gives the fully laden weight.

The breakdown of loads for my 60 foot narrowboat  are:

Max weight of people : 510 Kg (max 6 recommended)

Baggage and other carry-on weight : 250 Kg

Giving a max load on builders plate of 760 Kg. Don’t know if this is what you were looking for since it will vary from boat to boat.

Added to this is the weight of the hull, permanent stores and fittings including tanks plus weight of fluids within.

When I read my manual I was surprised it gave a max recommended no of people.  As Richard says full tanks of water, diesel and sewage make a huge difference.  The anchor and chain which I have added weigh as much as a child.
