Hello chaps. I am a refugee from a rival group. You seem so much nicer. Not nearly so hostile.

Anyway, here’s the thing.

Three weeks ago we were in Gloucester Docks and fell upon a visitor mooring with an electric hook-up. Yippee!! yelled the first mate. We can do some washing and it won’t take all day. We bought a pre-paid card from the lock keeper there who said there were a number of these points on the system and that the card could be used in any number of them and details were on Waterscape. Well they are not, and I have just been into the CRT office at Gas Street in Birmingham, and they can’t help at all.

I know there are two sorts of card (I read the thread another contributor put on about cards) but where are all these mooring with power? We cruise extensively, and have never seen any, except in Llangollen, and there you pay up front. Any ideas?

As you have found, there are not that many. In this day of concern for excess emissions you would have thought there would be more. Here’s the ones I can remember

Gloucester Docks

Stourport

Worcester

Cuckoo Wharf, Birmingham

Titford Pumphouse, Birmingham

Ocker Hill, Birmingham

Engine Arm, Smethwick, Birmingham.  Maybe depending if all the residential moorings are full.

Shire Oaks Marina, Chesterfield Canal

Bardney, River Witham

Doncaster

Eastwood, Rotherham

Liverpool, Salthouse Dock.

Clarence Dock, Leeds

New Islington, Manchester

Market Harborough Basin. Elec included in £10 mooring fee

Granary Wharf, Leeds. Private moorings. £6 night inc elec.

Llangollen. Elec inc in mooring fee.

I’m sure I’ve seen bollards at Brentwood but not particularly accessible.

From memory there are elec pillars in Bristol but it is a long time since I’ve been there.

Often helps to have two hook-up cables to join together. we have a 15m and a 25m.

As you can see, nothing from Birmingham southwards.

There may be others.

Hi Roger and welcome to the forum. As far as I’m concerned there are no rival groups, just other groups. I try not to promote a sense of rivalry with any other sites or forums. Life’s just too short!

I’m delighted you’ve received such a comprehensive answer to your first post. Thanks Pearley.
