We are in the middle of fitting solar panels (480W of copper indium gallium selenide panels) on our boat. As the MPPT charge controller which comes with them provides 3 stage charging as does the Victron inverter/charger do I need to isolate the solar when we’re on hookup to prevent the 2 smart chargers fighting or will they play happily together?
My Victron Combi and my Tracer MPPT / 320 watts semi flexible work OK together. We had an enforced stay in a marina during the 6 hottest days of this year with no problems.
I have read on Facebook that some boaters isolate them but you would need to isolate the panels from the controller.
