We are Yanks that love narrowboats. Our semi-retirement plan is to purchase one, travel 2-4 weeks at a time from marina to marina, doing this every couple of months, working our way throughout the UK, parking it at a marina for a month ,working at home in the US between voyages, and then having a home marina in the vicinity of London to winter the boat. The plan was to liveaboard for the 2-4 week periods during the winter (our floating flat in London) and enjoy the city at Christmas, etc. I am sure the travel around the UK and then berthing at marinas is not a problem (just takes planning) but wondering if the live aboard while docked in a marina near London is going to be feasible.
Also, wondering: in the States we have charter outfits that let you buy a boat and put it in charter with them to help make the payments with the goal of owning it outright in the end without having to dole out all the money. Know of any in UK?
Thanks much
