Hi all.

Work at the moment as a day services bus driver for Notts County Council. We are both in our early 50’s and looking in the next couple of years to sell our property (when older daughter finisher university) and either follow our current interest of touring caravanning and becoming wardens and living in our touring caravan or purchasing a live aboard boat and continuing working. i have joined the forum to caprure others thoughts about full time living on a boat, good and bad. We love the outdoor life and have had several boating holidays, canal boats and on The Norfolk Broads. The main downside to living aboard full time would be financing.  It would mean moving area and finding new jobs and moorings in the same area as the monies gained from the sale of the house would only afford us a decent used boat. Would love to work part time but the ongoing costs of keeping a boat seem quite high.

Looking forward to reading others thought, good and bad, about living aboard full time.

Hi There

Very pleased to have this great new forum, like Bill I have been a member of Living On A Narrowboat for some time and love the posts and letters. Also like Bill, my wife and I are about to take the plunge and buy our first live aboard later this year. Bit of a shock change for us cos we currently live in the Maldives, I am from Britain and my wife is Maldivian, so we should be easy to spot when we finally get on the cut.

Really looking forward to seeing the forum develop and to making loads of new friends, not to mention picking as many brains as possible on our forthcoming venture.

Cheers All, Glenn and Aisky ;o)

Now living our life on our Nb Bunbury, well and truly slowed down and very happy.

Thanks for the kind words Glen. Make the most of the sunshine in the maldives. We have forgotten what it looks like here. After a brief respite yesterday, it’s back to rain again this morning.
