Marina Listing

Listed below are all of the narrowboat friendly marinas in England and Wales. At least I think it’s a complete list. If I’ve missed one or more though please let me know. If you’d rather search by location, just use the Marinas By Waterway tab on the menu bar.

Your map lists ‘Calder Valley Marine’ as the closest one to me, but I don’t see it on this list. Could you please add it? Thank you very much.

Thanks for pointing it out to me but Willowbridge marina isn’t a marina as such. It is a working boatyard with linear moorings. I hope, one day when I have the time, to add linear moorings to the marina moorings listing.

Of all the marinas listed which ones are fully residential allowing one to live aboard for a full twelve months each year and have a post code enabling the receipt of mail.

Living on narrowboats at marinas is a bit of a grey area. There are very few that have “official” residential moorings but some will turn a blind eye to your livaboard status providing you maintain a low profile. Of course, by asking them to receive mail for you, you are placing yourself well and truly in the firing line. Look at the marinas in the geographical area that interests you, then pay them a visit. Before you speak to the management there, looks for evidence of liveaboards (coal and storage boxes on the roof, well looked after pot plants near the boat etc – you can usually tell). Ask those boat owners – if they are living aboard full time, whether they’ve achieved it with the full knowledge of the marina and, if they have, what the arrangements are.

Just noticed that Barton under Needwood near Burton upon Trent is not listed and I know for a fact that they are residential.
