OfflineHi dai dai and welcome to the forum. You need to be a little more specific with your questions. The site is full of general advice about living on a narrowboat. Have a look through all the articles here to see if you can find out what you need. To determine what you would like to have on board to live a comfortable life, I would need to know what is important to you. Once I know that, I could point you in the right direction with regard to electrical systems.
Where is your daughter going to attend university? Once I know that, I can give you an idea of local moorings.
If you can't find what you're looking for in the site articles, please don't hesitate to ask.

Offlinegood morning
ok we are after a widebeam ,the unniversity could be anywhere where a wide beam could moor we could do research into nursing for our daughter keeping the boat warm , and having a good electric system is very important,a galvanic isolator etc we would rather agood used boat than new, less depreciation thankyou![]()

OfflineFirstly, your daughter and university. Surely you need to find out which university will accept her before you decide where you are going to moor your boat? Why does the boat need to be so close to the university? Will she be living on the boat with you rather than staying in her own accommodation? Are you saying that she will only apply for universities that have moorings near by?
Next, your electrics system. You don't need the electrics for keeping the boat warm. You will use solid fuel, gas or diesel or a combination of the three for your heating. You will need the eletrics for TV, laptops, fridge, washing machine etc. What electrical appliances will you want to run on the boat? You need to determine what the total power comsumption (in watts) is going to be used at any one time, and then consider the size of inverter that you will need to provide that power. The inverter is the device that converts the DC power stored in your batteries into AC mains power. The greater your mains power needs, the more batteries you will need.
There are many narrowboat brokers around offering used narrowboats for sale. Whilton marina is one of the better known. If you want to search online for narrowboats for sale, have a look at Apolloduck
